Sunday Morning Bible Study

alt Please join us for Adult Bible Classes at 9:30 AM on Sundays between services.  Coffee, snacks and fellowship are always plentiful.

  • Galatians Bible Study  - I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2) This fiery epistle by St. Paul defines the Gospel and its uniqueness for us. This detailed, text-based Bible study will dig into the inspired words of God to show how Law and Gospel are related and yet quite distinct when it comes to the issue of justification---how we are declared righteous and are saved in the Father's sight.  They are both powerful forces in the life of  the Christian, but so easily misapplied in practice, as they were in Galatia. A textual commentary will be provided as a companion and study guide for the class.  This Bible Study lead by Pastor Hale is in the Lakeview Room.
  • Bible Study on the Augsburg Confession - What does it mean to be Lutheran?  Here is what Lutherans believe, teach and confess.  In the  year 1530, the Lutherans were required to present their confession of faith before the emperor in Augsburg, Germany. Philip Melanchthon wrote the Augsburg Confession and it was read before the imperial court on June 30, 1530. The largest document in the Book of Concord, its longest chapter is devoted to the most important truth of the Christian faith: the doctrine of Justification  by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. This Bible Study lead by Pastor Berndt is in the Multi-Purpose Room.
