    Martin Luther Learning for Life

    by Harran, Marilyn

Modern education is in deep crisis--morally, academically, and financially. It is in need of basic reform. This book provides insights to 16th-century education that are of more than passing interest and seem strangely applicable to the present educational environment. The author presents a clear and succinct overview of Luther's own education, Luther's educational ideas and program, and the impact and limitations of Luther and the magisterial reformers' work on the educational enterprise and institutions of his own day to the present.

Ultimately each man rejects temptations and permits the Holy Spirit to work through him.

    Warrior Monk

    by Ray Keating

KFUO radio’s “BookTalk”: Ray Keating is a “great novelist.” WARRIOR MONK: A PASTOR STEPHEN GRANT NOVEL made "The top 10 self-published books to cross WORLD's desk this year." WORLD magazine (June 29, 2013, issue) looked at more than 100 titles and then came up with a "final list of 10 that display clear writing and storytelling." On WARRIOR MONK, WORLD declared, "The 'warrior monk' in question is an ex-CIA agent who settled into life as a ... Lutheran pastor, saving lives and taking care of bad guys (who get saved)." WARRIOR MONK revolves around a former CIA assassin, Stephen Grant, who has lived a far different, relatively quiet life as a parish pastor in recent years.

    Hallmarks of Lutheran Identity

    by Schmidt, Alvin

Lutheran theology survived the last five hundred years. But will it survive the next?

Since the time Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Lutheran theology has survived centuries of political, religious, and societal pressures that challenged its foundational teachings.

But the question remains: Do Lutherans today understand their theological heritage well enough to maintain and defend their unique beliefs when outside pressures dismiss them as irrelevant to modern-day Christianity?

    The Hymns of Martin Luther

For five centuries, Martin Luther’s hymns have formed the core of Lutheran hymnals. They are honored as the premier model for Lutheran hymnwriters.

All of Luther’s hymn texts and melodies are now brought together in this complete collection. Previous English compilations of these hymns were largely limited to the work of a single translator. These translations were drawn from the best available, highlighting a mixture of styles and vocabulary.

T

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
- Matthew 28:5-10
