Pastor's Pen for Holy WeekSurely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53)

In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. They cried out to Jesus, "Hosanna", Lord save us. Palm Sunday's cry has been heard. King Jesus rides into the Holy City to die. For it is in the death of King Jesus that we have life.

Rejoice in Holy Week. Joyfully repent of your sin. Take in all that King Jesus does to save you from your sin.

Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. (Matthew 16)

Jesus does the will of His Father perfectly. Jesus fulfills the Scriptures for you. Jesus gives His life for yours.

“The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.... I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die. (John 12)

The Cross and Empty Tomb of Jesus draw near. There are many opportunities to hear God's Holy Word for Holy Week at Zion. Gather together around King Jesus who saves sinners.

Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. (John 5)

Blessed Holy Week. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
